Message from the Dean
Leading the first College of Oregon State University is a tremendous honor. It carries the responsibility of ensuring we continually strive for excellence to serve our land-grant mission of teaching, research, and outreach for the state’s globally significant agricultural and natural resource industries and the communities that rely upon them.
The density of Oregon’s diverse agricultural, environmental, and social landscape is unmatched. From our vibrant coastal communities to our high desert ecosystems, more than 531,000 jobs are associated with the agriculture, food and fiber industry in Oregon with an overall economic impact from the food system of $42 billion. At the same time, the global reach of our agricultural system continues to grow, with exports up 25% since 2015.
Striking a careful balance between conservation and production, we equip future leaders to solve complex challenges as we partner with industries and communities in our tireless commitment to make tomorrow better for everyone.
I am humbled to serve such a critical part of our agricultural, environmental, cultural and economic future and encourage you to explore this website to learn more about what we do and why we do it—our teaching, our research, and our outreach.
