Demonstration Garden

The COARC demonstration garden was created in 2008, to provide an interface with the local community at large, in addition to the agricultural community that has been traditionally provided with research-based information.

The garden provides a setting to learn about landscape, fruit and vegetable gardening, and is designed for both adults and students. Each spring local 5th grade students come to the garden to participate in different stations where they about a variety of topics including bees, worms and composting, beneficial insects, ecology and plant science. Adults can learn what species or variety of landscape plants, fruits, and vegetables do well in central Oregon. Community learning classes are also offered seasonally at the garden; check our upcoming events and classes section for more information.
