Course Description

The Natural Resources and Ecology course is a foundation course within the CASE sequence of courses. The course provides students a variety of experiences that in the fields of natural resources and ecology. Students will explore hands-on projects and activities while studying topics such as land use, water quality, stewardship, and environmental agencies. Study of the natural world including biomes, land, air, water, energy, use and care as well as a focus on issues surrounding man's interaction with the Earth will be addressed in this course.

Schedule

There will be an orientation meeting on Sunday evening (July 14, 2019), beginning at 4:00pm PST. Classes will meet from 8:00am – 5:30pm each weekday (July 15-19, 2019), concluding on Friday (July 19th) evening.

Housing and Dining

All institute participants will be housed on campus at Oregon State University. Meals will also be on-campus, either in a dining facility or catered to the class facility. Housing and dining are included as part of your institute payment.

Travel

Flying: Portland (PDX) or Eugene (EUG) are the closest airports offering a variety of carriers and flight options. There are shuttle options to Corvallis from both airports. There are also rental car options at both locations. PDX is approximately 95 miles from Corvallis, EUG is approximately 40 miles from Corvallis.

Please be prepared to arrive on campus at Oregon State prior to 4:00pm on Sunday (July 14). The Institute will conclude at 5:30pm on Friday (July 19) evening. Rooms on campus are available through Saturday (July 20) and arrangements can be made for July 13 and/or July 21 for an additional charge (please make these arrangements in advance).
